Image Plume: 10 recipes (logos, galleries, slideshows, before / after)

Default logo, image of the selected product, DAX measure, slideshow, shapes, before / after, light by score, carousel, filters and SVG clipping.

These recipes start from the image table of the getting started page (a key, a chunk index, the image text). Recipes marked ★ use a premium feature: it works without a key, with a "Premium preview" watermark.

How do I show a logo when no filter is selected?

The need: the logo of each company when one is picked in a slicer, and the group logo otherwise.

  1. Place the visual with Company in Image key (category) and the image in Image (base64); keep Format › Layout › Display on Single image.
  2. Open Format › Pasted image and fallback and paste the group logo (data URI, base64 or SVG markup) into Pasted image (base64, data URI or SVG).
  3. Create the measure:

  1. Replace the column with this measure in Image (base64), remove Image key, and set Empty or unreadable image to Pasted image.

Result: the logo of the selected company, otherwise the group logo, with no helper table.

How do I show the image of the product selected in a slicer?

  1. Put Product in Image key (category), the image and its Chunk index in their fields.
  2. Keep Display = Single image and Image shown = The first one.
  3. Add a slicer on Product: the visual shows the image of the selected product; with no selection, the first product (or the last one with The last one).
  4. A click on a bar of another visual (highlighting) brings the matching image to the front.

How do I use a measure that joins the image in DAX?

Useful for a card or a tooltip page, when the visual must receive a single value.

Drop the measure into Image (base64) (without Chunk index). The prefix is optional: raw base64 is recognized. The 32,766-character limit applies to columns only; a measure can return a much longer text.

How do I make a slideshow from one year to the next ★?

  1. One row per year and per image: Year, Chunk index, Image, Caption.
  2. Drag Year into Play axis ★, then the image, the index and the caption.
  3. A play bar appears: play button, slider, speed. Images follow each other with a cross-fade.
  4. In Format › Playback ★, set Duration of a frame (ms) (1,600 for instance), Loop and Frame shown on opening = The first one.
  5. With an Image key and Display = Grid (gallery), each year shows all its images.

The play axis is ★ since 10/22/2026: a « Premium preview » watermark shows as soon as the field holds data, until a key is entered (without a key, an Image key = Year and Display = Grid (gallery) show all the years side by side, for free). Reduce animations (Style › Animations or Windows) removes the cross-fade.

How do I round images, turn them into circles or shapes?

  1. Format › Mask (clipping) › Clip the image: Rounded corners (set Corner radius (px)), Ellipse or circle (Perfect circle on by default), or Shape from the library.
  2. With Shape from the library, pick the Shape: the 22 free shapes (circle, square, rounded square, rectangle, triangle, diamond, hexagon, star, heart, cloud, drop, speech bubble, arrow, person, house, barrel, bottle, glass, wine glass, thermometer, battery, vertical battery) are free, the other 131 are ★ (maps, containers, objects, transport…).
  3. Shape size (%) shrinks the shape in the frame; Shape fit = Fill the frame (distorted) stretches it.
  4. Format › Outline and shadow: the outline (free) and the drop shadow ★ follow the shape.

How do I compare a before and an after image ★?

  1. Two rows: 1 · Before, 2 · After in Image key (category) (the number sets the order), with their images.
  2. Format › Layout › Display = Before / after (slider).
  3. Drag the round handle, or use the keyboard (arrows, Shift + arrow for 10%, Home, End). Initial slider position (%) sets the start; the keys are used as labels (Before / after labels).

How do I show a red, amber or green light from a score ★?

  1. A table of three icons: 1 · Red, 2 · Amber, 3 · Green in Image key (category), with their images.
  2. Drag the score measure (e.g. Customer satisfaction) into Value (thresholds) ★.
  3. Format › Image by value ★: Enable, Threshold 1 = 50, Threshold 2 = 80.
  4. Below 50: the 1st image; from 50 to 80: the 2nd; from 80: the 3rd.

With Effect = Fade below threshold 1, ring above threshold 2, a gallery keeps all its images: those below the threshold turn faded gray, those above threshold 2 get a ring in the accent color.

  1. Format › Layout › Display = Carousel.
  2. Duration of an image (ms), Auto-advance, Transition (Fade, Slide, None), Arrows, Navigation dots.
  3. Auto-advance pauses on hover, on keyboard focus and with the pause button; never on a dashboard tile.

How do I turn images black and white or into my brand colors?

  1. Format › Image adjustments › Filter = Grayscale (free), or Sepia, Vintage, Warm, Cool, Duotone (style colors), Negative (★).
  2. Duotone colors shadows and highlights with the style colors; Duotone: shadows and Duotone: highlights replace them.
  3. Opacity, Brightness and Contrast (free), Saturation ★ and Blur ★ combine with the filter; Hue (degrees) ★ rotates the colors.

How do I clip the image with my own SVG shape ★?

  1. Format › Mask (clipping) › Clip the image = Custom SVG.
  2. Paste into Clipping SVG ★ the markup of an SVG (for instance the outline of your logo), an SVG data URI, or a simple path such as M0 0L100 0L50 80Z.
  3. The filled parts of the SVG cut the image; texts and images inside the SVG are ignored, scripts and links removed. An unreadable SVG is reported in edit mode and the image stays whole.

How do I open a company's web page on click?

The need: a click on the logo opens the company's website, like the Web URL action of the native Image visual.

  1. Create a measure that returns the address, for example Website = SELECTEDVALUE ( Companies[Site] ) (an address that starts with https://).
  2. Format › Interactions › Link opened on click (https://…): click the fx button, choose Field value and the Website measure. For a fixed link, type it directly.
  3. In reading view, click the image: Power BI asks for confirmation before opening the page.

Result: the click opens the link; Ctrl + click still selects the image and filters the report. For a hover effect without a magnifier, Interactions › Hover = Brighter.
